Testing the New Chrome
Google ChromeIf you haven’t heard yet, Google has finally released Chrome. Chrome is their first shot at a Web browser, although they have been working with Mozilla for a while. Obviously, right now Chrome has little market share, but we are talking about Google so as marketers we should expect that to change quickly.

What does Chrome mean to marketers? It means you have yet another browser that you need to test against and optimize for when designing a Web site or landing page. It also means that people may begin viewing your emails on a Chrome browser instead of Internet Explorer. You will have to make sure that regardless of which browser someone uses that they can view your message and act on it, and when they get to the landing page, they can see what you want them to see.

While Chrome is probably not something that you have to worry about for the immediate future, it’s definitely something that you should keep in mind when designing any online pages going forward. That way you won’t have to do a major re-haul of your Web content if Chrome does increase its market share rapidly. Can you imagine getting ready for the holiday season and revamping all of your landing pages and emails at the same time? Save yourself the headache and start paying attention now.
