We are looking for a technically savvy, driven, proactive individual to join the QA effort in our fast paced, dynamic environment. As an advocate and driver for quality in our Barrie (ON, Canada) office, it is expected that the successful candidate will be actively engaging Product Owners, Operations and Engineering to ensure results.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate the quality efforts for multiple products
- Help provide accurate and feasible work estimates and plans for product testing tasks
- Track existing metrics and help establish new ones to measure the quality of Lyris Inc.’s functional releases and the quality and efficiency of the QA and development teams
- Proactively recommend process, tool, and hardware improvements
- Work with software engineers to define and implement QA and unit test plans, including dependency analysis, code coverage and use cases
- Be responsible for the development, expansion, maintenance and execution of test scripts and automation
- Regularly keep management abreast of risks and quality issues and how they will impact the business
- Using strong interpersonal and communication skills, share best practices with team and potentially larger audiences
- Improve software quality through testing and advocacy, with a constant focus on the customer experience
Required Skills and Experience
- 2 plus years experience working as a QA Engineer in Agile development teams
- Experience in testing applications on both Windows and Unix platforms
- Experience testing database driven applications including data validation using SQL
- Experience writing, executing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts
- Experience leading cross-functional efforts by communicating and negotiating with multiple teams to accomplish goals
- Ability to think independently and take initiative to make the project succeed.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting high transactional multi-tier web application architecture and deployment
- Experience with VMWare
- Experience with Selenium/Ruby
