Lyris Provides Email Solution for RIMS
Berkeley, CA - 24 September 2001 - Lyris Technologies,
the leading developer of email list management software,
announced that the Risk and Insurance Management Society,
Inc. (RIMS) has implemented Lyris ListManager to run
its online networking forums of RIMS members. ListManager
is software used by more than 2,500 organizations for
opt-in email marketing, electronic newsletters, and
online discussions.
One benefit of joining RIMS is access to networking
opportunities with the Society's other members. "Our
ideal solution was to run email lists directly from
the RIMS database," said Andrew Steggles, Director of
Information Systems at the RIMS national office in New
York. "We tested several alternatives, and found that
ListManager was the most user-friendly and reliable
choice."
RIMS implemented ListManager software integrated with
a Microsoft SQL Server database of Society members.
When new members register on the RIMS site, they're
given an opportunity to sign up for more than a dozen
different discussion groups. Records of each member's
opt-in selections are then written to the SQL database,
which is further updated when members change email addresses,
unsubscribe, or sign up for new lists.
"We plan to grow RIMS membership significantly during
the coming year, and expect that our discussion lists
will help us reach that goal," commented Steggles. "ListManager
is the backbone of our email list strategy, and I'm
confident to trust this part of our business to the
Lyris team."
As a result of implementing Lyris ListManager, RIMS
has decreased its list administration time significantly,
and increased member satisfaction with the seamless
integration of ListManager's customizable interface
and the RIMS Web site.
Other benefits include opt-in features to differentiate
ListManager-generated email from spam; a fast mail engine
for delivering 200,000+ messages per hour; and compatibility
with both Windows and Unix.
RIMS is a professional association of 8,000 individuals
dedicated to advancing the practice of risk management.
RIMS currently has 4,000 member organizations, including
70% of the Fortune 1000. More information is available
