Sending a Multi-Part Email with Lyris ListManager

It's easy to send your email messages in both text and HTML versions with ListManager. Just follow these steps:

Note: these instructions are for ListManager 4.2 and above.

  1. Navigate to Content: New Content.

  2. Select the Text tab.

  3. Type or import the text message you'd like your email to have:

  1. Select the HTML tab.

  2. Type or import the HTML message you'd like your email to have:

  1. Continue to create and save your Content as usual.

  2. Navigate to Mailings: New Mailing.

  3. Click the button.

  4. Select the Content you created. ListManager will automatically insert both the text and HTML portions into your mailing:

    When sent, the email message will be formatted so everyone can read your email.

How does multi-part work?

You might be asking yourself: "How can some list members see the HTML version and some see the text version?"

When ListManager sends a multi-part email it includes both the text and HTML versions in the same email message, with special codes to separate the two.

If list members use software that can display HTML, it will detect the special encoding and display only the HTML portion of the message. If not, the software will display the text version instead.
