In terms of timing and location, it’s a match made in heaven for ad:tech this week: digital media capital New York during election week. The excitement is apparent with the Election Center at the conference which monitored the campaign, voting and analysis. On top of all that, they invited one of the most appropriate speakers for their keynote speech on Election Day -- Jonathan Klein, President of CNN US.

Klein discussed how traditional TV media has embraced and incorporated online media into its core strategy. It's very common for talk show hosts these days to take instant input from the audience via online requests, email, Twitter, etc., and incorporate them into live material. This immediate response and inclusion of user-generated content provides instant satisfaction to a wide audience.

One point which Klein clarified was especially important to all publishers - user-generated content is compelling, but to maintain the trust of your customers you should do your best to check the facts and verify content accuracy before blindly publishing it. Most people can sniff out outrageous, inaccurate content, but it may not hurt to do your own research and possibly have your voice heard, too.
