Lyris ListManager Hits Japanese Market

Oakland, CA - 9 April 1999 - Partnering with ActiveWave Technologies, Lyris Technologies, Inc. is the first list server company to launch a Japanese version of its email list server into the Japanese market.

The Japanese version of Lyris ListManager features a complete Japanese-native web interface (including a Japanese-language Web-BBS style web reading interface), support for the multiple, differing Japanese email encoding standards, Japanese-Newsgroup (NNTP) support, as well as the ability for email exchanges entirely in Japanese. These exchanges use the full features of Lyris ListManager.

According to David Dmytryshyn, co-founder of ActiveWave, "We're getting a very good cross-section of the Japanese marketplace showing interest in Lyris—educational institutions, small to mid-sized companies, as well as large companies. Mail based magazines are booming in Japan and the demand for good mailing list server software is rapidly increasing. We are a serious contender in this market sector with the power and unique feature set of ListManager."

This latest example of global communication via email reflects Lyris Technologies' commitment to providing sophisticated, reliable email management software that meets the growing need of corporations and organizations to maximize online communications.

Lyris plans to release German and French versions soon, and is the market leader in the list server software category. ActiveWave Technologies is also committed to the goal of bringing powerful and innovative Internet based communications and collaboration software to the Japanese market. The partnership of these two companies allows them to do what has never been done before: deliver a powerful email management tool to Japanese businesses and organizations.

As with the English version of Lyris ListManager, the Japanese version provides the following advantages:

  • Fast built-in mail engine (delivers 100,000 messages per hour compared to competitor products that deliver only 30,000 messages per hour)
  • Database storage for all info
  • Ease of administration
  • Web interface that allows users to read and post messages
  • Options to post to lists vial email
  • Powerful bounced mail handling
  • Optional multiview for secure newsgroups
  • Availability for a variety of Windows and Unix platforms (Linux coming soon)
