Walter Shelby Group Now Lyris Technologies

Creators of Lyris E-Mail List Server and MailShield Anti-Spam System

Oakland, CA - 11 August 1998 - The developer of the Lyris e-mail list server today announced a name change to reflect the success of its core product. Walter Shelby Group Ltd. is now Lyris Technologies, Inc.

The privately held San Francisco Bay Area company has been a technology leader in Internet software for five years. Lyris Technologies' products include: Lyris ListManager, software that enables discussion groups and announcements via e-mail, newsgroups and the Web; MailShield, anti-relay, anti-spam server-side software; and Tile, a program that converts Lotus Notes databases into HTML. The company also offers a discussion and announcement hosting service (Lyris.net) and the Web's largest free online database of discussion lists, newsgroups and computer vendors (Tile.net).

"We've been growing by leaps and bounds, mostly because of the Lyris ListManager product," said John Buckman, Lyris Technologies' Founder and CEO. "And with our customer list multiplying as it is, we plan to aggressively grow the company in the next year. To do that, we need to focus on our core assets; this name change helps us define and communicate that focus."

Lyris Technologies, Inc., located in Oakland, California, was officially founded in 1994. The company has prospered as a pioneer of e-mail software based on Internet standards. As part of its development process, Lyris Technologies invites involvement from customers and the community, resulting in powerful features, responsiveness to customer needs and enterprise-level reliability.
