Berkeley, CA - 27 February 2001 - Lyris Inc., developer and ASP of the most-proven email management software, announced today the release of Lyris MailEngine 1.0. MailEngine is a high-performance mailer that can replace several common mail delivery applications, including sendmail and qmail.
MailEngine sends or relays email at up to 150,000 messages per hour from a single server, depending on hardware and Internet connection. This performance enables prompt delivery of time-sensitive content, such as opt-in email about a sale or limited-inventory promotion.
Due to its high per-server speed, Lyris MailEngine also reduces hardware costs in businesses that previously required large server farms to achieve adequate scalability. A single MailEngine server can replace multiple machines running lower-performance mailing software, thereby reducing the cost of hardware and associated maintenance. The software's user-friendly web interface also makes system administration easy.
"Many of our current customers requested the speed and reliability of our Lyris ListManager software for their own applications," said John Buckman, CEO and founder of Lyris. "We based MailEngine on that proven technology and created a dedicated mailer that goes far beyond current market offerings."
MailEngine is available for download and purchase directly from Lyris, and is offered for Windows, Solaris (SPARC and Intel), Linux and FreeBSD. License prices start at $500 and are based on the total desired mailing speed.
